Did you know that one day the Sun will engulf the orbits of Mercury and Venus?
The Sun (click to enlarge)

The Sun is a low mass star that will continue to burn its Hydrogen fuel for another five billion years. When it has exhausted its fuel supply, however, the Sun's core will shrink precipitously and heat up immensely. This will causing the Sun's outer layers to expand to more than 100 times their current size, engulfing the orbits of both Mercury and Venus. What happens next? Check out Life of the Sun animation to find out.
