There are 100 billion stars in our Milky Way galaxy, and although actual collisions between stars are extraordinarily unlikely, near-misses can occur. Even near-misses can significantly alter the orbits of planets, however, ejecting them from their parent star into deep space, transferring them to the rogue star's realm, or causing their orbits to cross those of other planets, eventually leading to collisions. Even a near miss is not likely to happen to our Solar System, but to explore what might happen if it did, take a look at the Rogue Star tool.
